About CounsellingCounselling is an opportunity to be heard and listened to in a unique way; reflecting back what you present to a counsellor can allow you to explore pre-conceived ideas and perceptions you may hold about yourself.Therapeutic counselling can enable you to challenge these perceptions and empower you to make the changes in your life that are important to you. During the first session we can discuss your specific requirements in complete confidentiality. This will be an opportunity for you to to talk about the issues that have brought you to counselling and to discuss the way forward. As an accredited member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) I am bound by its Ethical Framework for Good Practice in Counselling. As required by the BACP I meet regularly with my supervisor; these meetings ensure that I am working within ethical boundaries. All my counselling work is completely confidential. No records are kept that could identify you. The only exception to this is if I was to gain knowledge of a significant risk of harm to yourself or another person. In such cases, I would discuss this with you beforehand. | |
